As part of this museum in progress project, 1–3 minute video clips by international artists were broadcast each week in the culture programme "10 1/2" running on Austrian national television (ORF) between December 1995 and March 1996. The artists, selected by curator Hans-Ulrich Obrist, give "instructions for use" which take on many layers of meaning through various interpretations and ways of carrying them out. Familiar everyday objects and processes which can be activated by TV viewers according to the artists' "instructions for use" are often the starting point for the "DO IT" exhibition.
"DO IT" – TV-Version from museum in progress was organised in co-operation with the ORF, the daily newspaper DER STANDARD and Stella Rollig, curator commissioned by the Austrian Minister for Science, Research and Art. Titles for the clips are by Gerwald Rockenschaub.
