Whoever has been on an aeroplane will certainly be familiar with the amusing mime of the stewardess explaining emergency procedures. It's all about fastening seat belts and observing the no-smoking rules at take off and landing, oxygen masks, life-jackets and emergency exits. However, in addition to this every seat is provided with a brochure which explains these procedures again in a picture story. And these pictures are not usually less peculiar than the mime ritual of the stewardess.
For "Functional Pictures" Ecke Bonk (born 1953 in Verona) has transferred this pictorial world of the aeroplane into the context of the U-Bahn. It is really astonishing what effect just changing your means of transport can have.
