Ali Gedik, a Kurdish man who has lived in Austria for 27 years, has compiled a private archive containing over 500 excerpts from Austrian and Turkish print media. The archive focuses on Gedik's own political activities and his areas of interest as a committed archivist, ranging from Austrian migration policy to the situation of Kurds in Turkey. A key aspect of the documented material is the strategic use of media coverage as a means of political participation.
The archive not only offers insights into how migration is portrayed in the media but also highlights how Gedik has documented the deliberate utilisation of public media as part of political engagement.
Contents: Newspaper clippings, documents, private photographs. Archive edited by: Martina Böse, Ali Gedik, and Cornelia Kogoj.
