I realised my first exhibition in Vienna in 1995, in the exhibition rooms of the Kunsthalle. At the same time museum in progress approached me with a proposal to create a public work on the façade of the Kunsthalle, which was of gigantic dimension at the time. This seemed much more interesting than working in a white cube. However, after an on-site visit I decided that the space of the façade was not well suited for my work. Without any fuss, these amazing people of museum in progress immediately found another kind of exhibition space for me. They made it possible to regularly present my art works in the daily newspaper and on television. In Paris this would have been inconceivable. These interventions I made for museum in progress were entitled 'human' and I thought of them as my true exhibition in Vienna.
