The French artist Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster (born 1965) is one of the most important contemporary artists. Her solo exhibition Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, 1887–2058 could be seen at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris from 23 September 2015 to 1 February 2016.
The Vienna State Opera and museum in progress are pleased to present an exclusive signed and numbered special edition to mark the artist’s design of the Safety Curtain 2015/16. The purchase of this limited edition, which was framed according to the instructions of the artist, will help to continue the exhibition in the Vienna State Opera launched in 1998. Collectors will receive the edition in a hand-made cardboard box.
"Helen & Gordon" is a tribute to a famous photograph of Helen Frankenthaler by Gordon Parks, which was commissioned by Life magazine in the 1950ies.
Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster's image was presented at a festive press conference on 30 September 2015 in the Vienna State Opera and it was exhibited until the end of June 2016. On the occasion of the exhibition "Opera as the World. The quest for a total work of art" at the Centre Pompidou-Metz, museum in progress presented the large-scale image at the Opéra Théâtre de Metz in 2019.
