In Symposion 10 on 22 September 1995, on the occasion of the conference of experts "Art in building – Art in public space" in the Vienna Ringturm (20 – 22 September), James Wines, founder of the architect group SITE and one of the leading theoreticians of a pronounced role for architecture in environmental protection, states his position on art in public space and the changed concept of the monument at the end of the twentieth century.

Mel Chin, American sculptor and installation artist of Chinese origin, talks about his personal experience as an artist from an ethnic minority and his attempt to create a monument for ecological questions.
