Safety Curtain

Safety Curtain 2011/2012

"Permit yourself to drift from what you are reading at this very moment into another situation, another way of acting within the historical and psychic geographies in which the event of your own reading is here and now taking place; here, and now taking the place of other ways of making passionate and energetic connections between us. Imagine a situation that, in all likelihood, you've never been in."

The British concept artist and filmmaker Cerith Wyn Evans has created the 14th large-format picture for the safety curtain at the Vienna State Opera for the exhibition series "Safety Curtain". An international jury (Daniel Birnbaum, Akiko Miyake, Hans-Ulrich Obrist) selected the artist.

"Safety Curtain" is a project of museum in progress in cooperation with the Vienna State Opera and the Bundestheater-Holding, made possible by Die Presse.

Digital Imaging: Vienna Paint; production: Trevision; Support: Weinquartier Wien.
