Thomas Bayrle in the digital museum in progress: www.mip.at/en/digital-mip/raising-flags/bayrle
Thomas Bayrle’s work features a large mouth made of bricks, which forms the word “Einkaufen” (Shopping) in the artist’s characteristic raster aesthetic. The stills are taken from a silent animation that is presented online as an extension of the raising flags project in the digital mip. While flags typically define and symbolize communities, Bayrle’s flags proclaim the capitalist community. “Einkaufen” (Shopping) addresses consumption as one of the fundamental building blocks of our capitalist society, serving as a unifying force that is simultaneously critically questioned through the work.
In the context of the project raising flags, two signed and numbered silkscreen prints by Thomas Bayrle were produced, each in a format of 60 x 90 cm and an edition of 60 copies. Further information under: www.mip.at/en/shop/einkaufen
