Marie Antoinette

The artist Bernard Bazile was selected for the second project in the "Billboard" series of exhibitions for Austrian Airlines and gewista. In his work "Marie Antoinette" – a homage to the novel of the same name by Stefan Zweig – he showed two red stools from Schönbrunn and Versailles and a chandelier against the background of yellow baroque wallpaper.

The project began in September 1992 at the following locations in Vienna: Schönbrunn, Museum of the 20th Century, French Cultural Institute, Vienna International Airport, Austrian Airlines Head Office. The three motifs by Bernard Bazile were shown on specially erected billboards and were changed every two weeks. From mid-December 1992 the project expanded onto about 3,000 billboards throughout Vienna for a period of approximately three months.
