TransAct 17

TransAct statement

Ines Doujak, Vienna, is making her space for a statement available to Augustine Leisch and the Feminist Resistance Council:

Few immigrants go to the demonstrations. That is not only because people without a secure residential status have reason to fear that public political activism could lead to considerable difficulties. Immigrants have every reason to see the many Austrian and EU flags as a statement by Austrian society for the exclusion of non-Europeans. The better Austria does not allow blacks to be insulted because of the colour of their skin. However, it still does not want to open the borders or the deportation prisons.

The anti-racist resistance against the ÖVP-FPÖ government must become a practical, helpful and effective solidarity movement – with those who have had their rights taken away and been persecuted by ÖVP-FPÖ, SPÖ-ÖVP and by European racism.
