Since its foundation, museum in progress has not only revolutionized the Austrian art scene and placed it in an international context, but has also questioned the art world’s self-satisfied complacency. It has shown that a museum does not require a more or less appropriate architectural setting, that the public sphere can also be a non-physical, social and media space, and that art and its perception are not immutable concepts. This is a particularly important lesson today, as many museums go into reverse.
