Pipilotti Rist, Abdominal Cavity Flies Over a Dam, 2024, digital mip, Safety Curtain, museum in progress, 2024/2025, video

"When the opera audience sits on their seats before or after the performance, they face a gigantic dam built into an Alpine landscape. An object in the middle is about to soar over the dam and race further over the bloody mountain lake towards Italy. This object is a magnetic resonance imaging scan of a human abdominal cavity, revealing the spine, intestines, and surrounding torso. This is you, as perspectives beyond introspection and narrow views are opened, and your insides ceaselessly pump blood and other fluids. The curtain with the reservoir is lifted for the performance, and the audience is merely flooded with emotions, sounds, and gestures, yet remains dry."
