As part of Eyes On – month of photography Vienna 2014 the medial art project "Travelling Eye" was being presented in Gallery OstLicht.

During the course of a year (1995/1996) the exhibition project "Travelling Eye" brought together international artists who find a new form of narrative in serial photography – stories of personal perception, reports of global movements, photography not as a means of distancing oneself from the world but as a medium of closeness. The curator of the project was Hans-Ulrich Obrist.

Each artist designed four double-page spreads in the news magazine, profil, the media location of the exhibition series which was realised in co-operation with profil and Stella Rollig – Curator of the Ministry of Science, Research and Art.

The project was a dynamic pause for breath between the surrounding news reports and brought artistic photography to a setting far removed from the art world. It inspired an unusually lively discussion around art in the medial sphere. Hubertus Czernin, then the magazine's editor-in-chief, even thought that "museum in progress was surely more hotly debated than many a feature that ran in Profil around that time."
