Layers of Time

Layers of Time 08

The work “4 November 2004. At 1.55 pm in Granada” of the Italian artist Pia Gazzola is the eighth contribution to museum in progress’ exhibition series “Layers of Time” in DATUM. Gazzola juxtaposes an admission card of the royal observatory in Greenwich, which served as point of reference in establishing the prime meridian, with a photograph that shows light reflexes on flooring tiles of the Alhambra in Granada. The subject “time” is a central motif in the work of Gazzola (see: www.piagazzola.com), who describes herself as a “time sculptor”.
